MING 37.11 Odyssey - FKM Strap

Today we present the fruition of the latest installment in our dive saga: the MING 37.11 Odyssey.

A diver for those who like to explore. It shares the GPHG-winning 37.09 Bluefin’s pressure balanced case architecture, but now with a GMT movement and in pure (grade 2) titanium that can be paired with a matching bracelet or our revolutionary MING Polymesh to make for a lightweight travel companion. The watch head now weighs a hair over 42 grams and has a brushed finish that lends it a sporty aesthetic.

We’ve retained the rotating dial – the engineering solution that allowed Bluefin to have the same visual prominence of much larger dive watches whilst retaining the wearability of the 38mm case. Given the Odyssey’s inspiration and name however, the dial is bidirectional and 24-clicks for each of the 24 timezones. The Odyssey has a smoked sapphire dial, which teases and hints at the movement underneath, and the 24-hour markings are not only luminous but also colour coded for the day-night indication. Orange for after dark, and blue for daytime.

Since most of us have itchy fingers and like to fidget, we’ve further tuned the crown mechanism for the dial at 4 o’clock for an improved tactile feel, and it remains usable underwater - just in case you’re the kind to swim across the English Channel or the Torne River.

The winding/setting crown at 2 o’clock screws down for water resistance and has an unlocked warning indicator. Both crowns are also colour coded and luminous, because, why not?

Speaking of luminous indications, the top crystal carries the hour indices in MING Polar White, and new to the Odyssey is the hand set which includes – for the first time ever – a gradient luminous treatment. This is a watch you’ll want to take out at night. Water resistance is a little less than the Bluefin at 300m as we elected to keep the existing case dimensions and find space internally to accommodate the slightly thicker movement and GMT hand. If the extra 300m is critical, might we suggest a Bluefin, a Uni, or a submarine?
