The deep green dial evokes the sights and sounds of Rikka, the seventh of Japan’s twenty-four sekki or seasons. Spring has passed and the increasing warmth of the sun's rays announces that summer has begun. Japan’s plants take on a deeper green hue and, as they grow, sway elegantly in the early summer wind.
This is a modern re-interpretation of the celebrated 62GS from 1967, whose characteristic sharp edges and perfect distortion-free surfaces can only be created through Zaratsu polishing. The watch’s wide dial opening was achieved thanks to a bezel-free construction, lending the 62GS a distinctive appearance on the wrist.
Inside is the Hi-Beat Caliber 9S85, hand assembled by the skilled craftsmen and women of the Grand Seiko Studio Shizukuishi. The vibrant green coloring evokes the gentle breeze that passes through the lush grasslands near the studio. The GS logo and the seconds hand provide a pop of gold coloring that harmonizes with the green backdrop of the dial.
